Nothin' but a gangsta birthday party

We surprised our friend Nate with a 90's hip hop birthday party last month. It was all about bold vibes, classic beats, and nostalgic fun. Read on to get some ideas to transport your guests to the era of boom boxes, baggy jeans and bucket hats.

Photo opp:

You know we have to have a photo opp for a birthday party! I still had my backdrop from my 90's pool party so we used that. Then added these chain balloons from Amazon and microphone balloons.

Gift table:

For this I used a make your own banner kit I already had but you can get a similar banner from Amazon. Just add the other 2 microphone balloons and you're done!

I made the custom gift bag with my Cricut, you can download the file to use here.

My artist daughter helped me tag, "Nate was here" on our window with chalk marker, he loved it!

Food & Drinks:

This part was fun to put together! I purchased beverages that reminded us of the 90's or had hip hop vibe to them. The wines I chose, were Sun Goddess Pinot Grigio (by Mary J. Blige), O.P.P. (other peoples pinot) and a Snoop Dogg 19 crimes wine.

Then I added some canned beverages. Sunny D was the best back then and they now make a seltzer that really great. I also added the new Gin & Juice made by Dre & Snoop. Then added this menu/sign I made to go along with it. You can download it here.

Now, the CAKE! You can check out how I made this cake by going to my hip hop cake blog post.

Attire:

Don't forget to have your friends dress the theme. The 90's outfits and hip hop fits were so fun! We also handed out these gold necklaces
