5 Reasons To Invite Others Into Your Home
You may be wondering why it is so important to welcome others into your home? In this blog I want to share 5 reasons why gathering and socialization are so important to each one of us!
Physical benefits. Socialization has shown to decrease blood pressure. It also increases your brain health and boosts immunity.
Mental benefits. I’m sure you were like me during the end of the lock down of 2020, getting a little depressed from not being able to see other humans in person. Zoom was great and all but in person, face to face time was missed so very much. Psychologist Susan Pinker says that person-to-person contact releases neurotransmitters that reduce stress and anxiety. * Socialization helps with your mental health as well as self-esteem!
Builds relationships. In order to form string, long-lasting relationships you need to spend time together. It doesn’t need to be a huge event every time. Just some coffee and donuts from the local grocery store will suffice. It’s all about TIME.
Great way to use our ‘Super powers’. We all have gifts we are given. Some of them can be greatly used and needed during events/gatherings. Does cooking and feeding people your hard planned meal bring you joy? Then host a dinner party! Does baking desserts that knock people’s socks off make you feel amazing? Then have a few people over for coffee and desserts. Does photography and capturing moments make you fulfilled? Then offer to photograph a party or get together. There are so many gifts that can be beneficial at events! Using your ‘super powers” will make you feel so much more confident in yourself and it blesses others!
Last but not least…because it can help the world around you! All these things above are amazing, but what is more amazing is when those around you can benefit from your invitation. I love the quote by Henri Nouwen, “Hospitality is not to change people, but to offer then space where change can take place”. Whether you’re opening up your home for a bible study, coaching session, or just a meal, it can change people. And that is such a beautiful thing to be a part of!
